Community & Submission Guidelines

Who this applies to

Everyone who contributes to AIToolsay: people submitting a tool, GPT or browser extension to the directories, people leaving reviews or ratings, people pitching guest posts, and companies buying a listing or placement.

Buying a placement does not exempt you from these rules. If anything, a paid listing that breaks them is worse, because it damages the thing advertisers are paying for.

Submitting a tool, GPT or extension

What we accept

• The product exists and works — the link resolves and does what the description says.
• It is genuinely AI-related, or genuinely useful to people working with AI.
• The description is accurate and specific. Tell us what it does, not how revolutionary it is.
• Pricing is stated honestly, including whether "free" means a trial, a limited tier or actually free.
• You have the right to submit it — you built it, you work there, or you are authorised.

What gets rejected

• Dead or broken products — a link that 404s, a signup that fails, a tool that has clearly been abandoned.
• Duplicates — the same product resubmitted under a new name to gain a second listing.
• Thin wrappers presented as original products, where the listing hides what is actually powering it.
• Misleading pricing — "free" for something that demands a card before it does anything.
• Keyword-stuffed descriptions written for a crawler rather than a reader.
• Products built to harm — undress or nudify tools, deepfake tools marketed for impersonation, scrapers sold for harassment, or anything whose primary use is creating non-consensual imagery.
• Malware, phishing or credential harvesting, obviously — and these are reported, not merely rejected.

How long it takes

A decision within five business days, with a reason. Not a silent rejection, and not an indefinite queue.

Reviews and ratings

The rules

• Review from experience. Use the product first. A review of something you have not used is not a review.
• Disclose any connection. If you work there, invested, or got something free, say so in the review.
• Be specific. "It is bad" helps nobody. What did you try, what happened, what did you expect?
• Criticism is welcome. Negative reviews stay up. We do not remove them because a company asked, and we do not remove them because a company advertises.

What gets a review removed

• Incentivised reviews — paid for, traded, discounted or given in exchange for anything.
• Review manipulation — multiple accounts, scripted submissions, or coordinated campaigns for or against a product.
• Competitor sabotage — reviewing a rival's product negatively without disclosing you compete.
• Personal attacks on named individuals rather than assessment of the product.
• Off-topic content — support requests, spam, or unrelated promotion.

Review manipulation costs the account and the listing, not just the review. It is the single fastest way to lose a directory presence here, because a review section people cannot trust is worth less than no review section.

Guest posts and contributed articles

• Original and unpublished. Not syndicated, not spun, not published elsewhere first.
• Written for readers. If the article exists to carry a link, it will be rejected — buy a labelled placement instead, which is honest and works better.
• Claims are checkable. Statistics need a source. Invented figures end the relationship.
• AI-assisted is fine, AI-dumped is not. Use the tools; a human still has to be accountable for every claim.
• We edit for length, clarity and house style, and we may decline after review.

General conduct

Across every surface — submissions, reviews, comments and correspondence — do not post content that is unlawful, harassing, hateful, defamatory, or that infringes someone else's rights. The full list is in the Terms of Service, and it applies here in full.

Enforcement

Proportionate, and in this order where the situation allows it:

1. Edit or unpublish the specific content, with a note explaining why.
2. A warning, where the problem looks like a misunderstanding rather than an intent.
3. Removal of the listing or account for repeated or deliberate breaches.
4. A permanent block, and a report to the relevant authority where the content is unlawful.

Serious cases — malware, CSAM, coordinated manipulation — skip straight to the end. Everything else starts at the top.

Appeals

If your submission, review or listing was actioned and you think we got it wrong, reply to the decision email or write to contact@aitoolsay.com with the URL and what you disagree with.

A second person reviews it — not the one who made the original call. We aim to answer within five business days, and we do reverse decisions; the point of publishing this standard is that it can be held against us.

Changes

These guidelines change as the site does. The current version always lives at this URL with a last-updated stamp.
